I have not been keeping up on Roddy's blog lately and am very shocked and saddened to read this. The fact that I shed a tear (actually a few tears) for you shows what a sweet sweet boy you were and how enjoyable it was to read of your adventures. RIP Roddy... I'm going to go give my pup a little extra love.

My sweet Blackie (The Brown Dog) and dear Lucy are resting their chins on my lap as I shed many tears for you, Roddy. The 3 of us have so enjoyed your stories and we are now so sad to hear of your passing. We know you have had a wonderful life with your devoted owners - Blackie and Lucy have often been envious of your adventures. They will both be getting special love today.

I have only just come across this blog and would just like to say I think it's great how you kept up with the blog for so many years. The memory of Roddy will remain alive every time that somebody reads this site.. RIP Roddy x
Thank you to everyone for their thoughtful and kind words. I cannot express how much we miss Roddy, but you dog owners already understand, we know. Even today, as a doggy collar jangled (a sound off Radio 4 Ramblings), I spun around to see him.... but of course he wasn't there - only for that split second I expected him to be. The house is empty and our hearts heavy and sad. We do talk of him and smile too and one day we will be brave enough to love another beautiful labrador... just not quite yet
Our Seamus passed from cancer one week ago today, we miss him so much. Sorry to hear about Roddy. I can tell he IS loved. My partner found this quote that we think is sweet and settles our heart:

Dear Roddy, you brought many a smile to my face. I imagine you in Heaven running around and chasing after squirrels and all kinds of creatures, tail wagging, tongue lolling to one side :)
When their times arrives the love you can donate them is to smiling when they are going to past away.They suffer to tell us goodbye,but they have to do that.I believe it is surrounded by all the love of you and your family.
